Paint Correction
WHAT IS PAINT CORRECTION?
Paint Correction is the systematic process of leveling a vehicles paint until it is free of all defects. When the paint is free of defects, it is able to reflect light evenly, and in doing so produces the mirror like, shiny appearance we all desire. When defects are present, the light doesn't reflect off of the vehicles paint, it refracts. This causes the light to bounce off the surface in different directions, causing a dull unsightly appearance. There are many different defects that cause this, we will look at a few in the image below...
WHAT LEVEL OF PAINT CORRECTION DO I NEED?
There are different levels of paint correction services, depending on the condition of your paint. There are other factors to consider when determining what service to pick. Your budget, how your vehicle is stored, and how often you drive it also important. We will go over the different levels of paint correction starting with the least aggressive.
1. 1 STEP POLISH (PAINT ENHANCEMENT)
1-Step polish is one of our most requested services. It is mainly for vehicles that's paint is not too neglected, and has light to moderate defects. It is performed using a dual action polisher or forced rotation orbital polisher, one pad, and an AIO (All-in-One) polish. An all in One polish usually contains a diminishing abrasive that breaks down to a finishing polish and leaves a protection behind. (Wax, Sealant, or Si02, etc., This gives a great boost to the gloss and eliminates about 75% of defects
2. 2-Stage Paint Correction
A 2 step correction removes about 85% of all defects. It is performed with a cut and finish polish using 2 different polisher and 2 different pads. This isolates each cutting and polishing step and gets more out of each one. 2 step correction will be performed using a rotary, and a DA polisher, cutting compound, finishing polish, with a cutting and polishing pad.
3. 3-Stage Paint correcting
A 3 Stage Correction removes between 90-95% of defects. It is performed using a a cut, polish, and finishing polish using 3 different polisher and 3 different pads. This isolates each cutting and polishing and finishing step and gets more out of each one. 3 step correction will be performed using a rotary, and a DA polisher, cutting compound, polishing compound, finishing polish, with a cutting, polishing, and finishing pad.
4. Color Sanding
Color sanding is the process of wet or dry sanding a vehicle the followed by a 2 or 3 stage paint correction usually to remove orange peel after being repainted, but also to remove heavy defects that a 2 or 2 stage paint correction will not take out.
